You are probably full of questions about the training so let me cover the basics in this overview. Please read through it so you are familiar with the rules. If you do not understand everything completely do not worry we are going to go over all of this in great detail in the class. This is just a quick overview to answer the basic questions.

Getting a real estate license is as easy as 1,2,3

STEP 1

Take the Real Estate Salesperson Prelicense Class. Lets make sure that you meet all the requirements for taking the class:

Requirements for taking the Real Estate Salesperson Classes:

  • Must have Never had a real estate license in Massachusetts
  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age

The What?

You have signed up for a 40 Hour Massachusetts Real Estate Prelicence Class. There are a number of things that you should be sure of before coming to the class.

  1. That you have never had a real estate license before. Especially a Massachusetts Real Estate Salesperson or Brokers license. The reason for this is that once you have had a license you can not become licensed again you MUST reinstate that license. If you have a Real Estate License in a state other than Massachusetts you should call the office before you come to the class as you might not need to take the Prelicence class at all.
  2. The class is focused on preparing you to take the salesperson prelicensing test. It covers approximately 1200 terms and definitions. You will want to have pens, pencils, paper and be well rested.
  3. Where comfortable cloths. We try to keep the training room as cold as we can so if you get cold easy bring extra cloths.

The Where and When?

This depends on which class you registered for. However most classes run on the weekends from 8AM until 6PM. We take an hour for lunch and scheduled breaks every 90 minutes. You should have gotten an email stating which class you have registered for and the class details. If you did not get that email or just have questions as to the date and address please look on the schedule page or contact us.

The Who?

All of our instructors are licensed real estate brokers here in Massachusetts. The bulk of our courses are taught by Tim and Liz Frangioso but we do have several other instructors that teach from time to time.

The How?

We have alot of ground to cover in a relatively short period of time so we try to make the most of the time that we have.

  1. We start the first day by doing some introduction exercises so we are comfortable with the other students taking the class. We then jump right into understanding the Massachusetts License Law and Regulations. In the afternoon we cover real estate theory so the students understand the basics of real property, estates, encumbrances, land use controls and hazardous waste.
  2. The second day we cover real estate brokerage, agency, and start contracts. In the afternoon we cover title transfer and leasehold estates.
  3. The third day We cover real estate financing in the morning. In the afternoon we cover property valuation, fair housing and property management.
  4. The fourth day we go over the candidate handbook completely. We make sure all the students have valid ids and know how to register for the exam. We then do a review of the test outlines and describe a test taking strategy called “pointing the test”. We then do a review of all the material. The students have a chance to ask any questions that did not get answered in the normal flow of the class. In the afternoon we play a game called “The Quiz Game” where students practice answering questions in a cooperative and competitive environment.

STEP 2

Then you need to take a test with a company called Pearson Vue. Lets make sure that you meet the Licensing Exam Requirements for getting a Real Estate Salesperson license.
